Edge is a small farm, located in northern Alabama. We were
introduced to donkeys after moving to our current home from the suburbs in
another state. A pair of dark brown, standard donkeys in the
pasture next to ours often came to the fence to visit our dogs. Their
gentle nature and sweet faces led us to begin searching for donkeys to buy for
our farm. A visit to a farm with miniature donkeys began our fascination
with them. Their small size and wonderful, friendly personalities attracted us
immediately. Like most people discover, the first time we saw them it
was a cross between love at first sight and the onset of “donkey fever.” We
bought two jennets and the following summer, we had our first foal.
This, in turn, lead to the desire for more donkeys to join
our growing family. We began researching, reading and visiting
farms and shows to see them at their best. Our goal has been to build
our herd carefully and to produce the best quality, healthy donkeys with
correct conformation and good color. We continue to enlarge our herd,
buying weanlings to raise on our farm and jennets
who will give us a variety of quality foals. We are hands-on with our donkeys
from the time they are born or purchased. This is a joy to us and helps
them to become trusting and friendly.
